God is jealous--vigilant in maintaining us...guarding those things that concern us. This is why He is jealous of our affection and worship towards another source--even a well-meaning source. Why? Is He insecure and feels that if we shower something else with our worship that He wont be as important as He is...that His God-ness is somehow compromised? No! In fact, Gods ability to be God is not contigent on our worship. All of creation is HARDWIRED to worship--to ascend. We are the variables in the equation of creation. The only being that was given the option of...well...options. Whenever we want, we can renig on the agreement of Gods natural order for us. If all of humanity were to revolt against God, the remainder of creation stands to worship God--not to mention the heavenly hosts. So why does it matter to God so much that our worship only be directed back to Him? Thats for our own benefit! God knows that nothing...no THING...no being...no ONE can return with the same magnitude and then increase it a thousand fold but God. God longs to lavish us with His love--to spoil us with it. You know someone who has been spoiled by the love of God. They exude it in their everyday life...in the way they love others...in how they receive love from others, but they are very careful in not allowing others to take the place of God in their life.
