Good Monday! September 8th, 2014 Todays Bible Reading: Mark 4:1-20; Hope scripture: Proverbs 11:18 He who sows righteousness will have a sure reward. Proverbs 11:18 NKJV Verses 1 and 2 set the stage...Jesus is teaching a great multitude by the sea again, Jesus has His back to the sea, Matthew tells us He is in a boat and the people are facing Him, and He teaches them by parables. Verses 3-9, The Parable of The Sower. Jesus starts off in verse 3 with one word, Harken in the KJV Listen in the NKJV, and ends the parable in verse 9 withHe who has ears to hear, let him hear! The point of the parable is that the condition of the soil/dirt determines the potential for growth. It is not the seed, the seed is good, it is the condition of the soil. That is easy enough to understand especially for those in the crowd that planted the fields of the land. Right? Well, yes and no! Jesus was conveying a spiritual meaning to those who would hear that meaning. Ill get back to that in a sec. In verse 10 Mark tells us that Jesus are now alone, but that those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. So He had left the multitude and for sure the twelve were with Him, but who were those around Him with the twelve? I really do not know. I was hoping one of you could tell me, but it is not important to the message, other than, to a select few Jesus gives the spiritual meaning. And in verse 11 and 12 Jesus tells them why: To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, so that Seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand; lest they should turn, and their sins be forgiven them. (Isaiah 9-10) Mark 4:11-12 NKJV We have truly been blessed to be able to stand among the select few. I say this because in verses 13-20 Mark gives us the spiritual meaning as it was explained to that select few. Want to know the meaning of The Parable of The Sower? Its time for you to do a small amount of reading for yourselves. 7 verses will tell you the parable and 8 verses will give you the meaning. Enjoy! God bless you everyone. Share your smile with everyone you see. :)
