Good morning Beloit. It is currently 70 degrees and it looks pretty nice out there. What an awesome summer it has been. Dont forget today is the last Friday in the park, so if you want great food and music go and take advantage. There will also be music at the riverfront tonight. Thanks to all of the staff and volunteers that have put these great events on. They really give the city some class, and its awesome to be able to show off our downtown and beautiful riverfront. Today in history marks the 9th anniversary of Katrina making landfall causing enormous devastation to our Gulf Coast. Although we likely wont get hit by a hurricane up here, it is important to take the lesson to have some preparation for disasters either nature or man made. Take stock of what you have in your house, and how long you could survive on it, and think about a plan you might have to reunite with family if you were to become separated. Not fun things to discuss, but trying to figure it out after the fact is not going to work. We have had a few uneventful shifts, and we are okay with that. Please keep your eyes out for folks taking yard tools. We have had a lot of those taken in burglaries. Of you see people selling tools cheap anywhere these may be stolen. Remember buying a push mower for 6 bucks is probably too good to be true, and it likely means it is stolen. Please also make sure that if you have guns in your house to secure them. I was told the statistic the other day during training that in 2009 10 burglaries supplied 100 guns to the streets of Beloit.
