Good morning!! I would like to tell you a little about one of my dear friends, Steve Cook and his organization Jonathans Ark. Steve and Robin Cook started Jonathans Ark in March of 2012 in memory of their son Jonathan. Through their experience with dealing with a long hospital stay and dealing with a child with a critical illness, they felt led by God to help others in similar situations. Jonathan was born on March 10, 1999. He seemed to be a normal healthy baby boy. However, at four months old, he started having trouble breathing. They were in and out of hospitals in Macon and Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL for the next six months having different tests and procedures done to try to diagnose the problem. In January of 2000, Jonathan had to be taken back to The Childrens Hospital in Macon. He had to be put on a ventilator because the fluid in his chest was collapsing his lungs. They did an MRI and correctly diagnosed Jonathan with lymphangioma, a rare disease that is caused when the lymph system does not form correctly. Jonathan was sent back to the Birmingham Childrens Hospital. While there, we found out that there was nothing that could be done to help him. They put in a trache, and we brought him back to Macon in March of 2000. They lived in the PICU for the next nine months. Family members took care of their older son, Jordan, who was four at the time. They were able to bring Jonathan home on a ventilator for about two weeks in January of 2001. However, he got an infection in his lungs and had to go back to the PICU in Macon. While in the hospital, he got an infection in his blood. Jonathan fought the good fight, and on February 3, 2001 he went to be with Jesus. No more hospitals, medical equipment, or illness. Just perfect peace with Jesus!
