Good morning everyone. Today’s national remembrance to honour - TopicsExpress

Good morning everyone. Today’s national remembrance to honour those lost in the Flight MH17 disaster will be observed on ships in the P&O Cruises fleet today with this special Captain’s message (see text below) which will be part of the traditional noon broadcast at sea. It will be delivered later in the afternoon for ships in port when guests have returned to their ships. “Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, this is the Captain speaking from the Bridge. Could I please have your attention for a special message to honour those who were tragically lost in the Malaysia Airways Flight MH17 disaster. The Australian Government has declared today – Thursday August 7 – a National Day of Mourning for the victims and it is being observed throughout Australia during the day. We take this opportunity to remember people from all nationalities among the 298 passengers and crew who were on board Flight MH17 on that day. Today we particularly join with our Australian guests in remembering the 38 Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia who were among those who so tragically lost their lives. Ladies and gentlemen, would you please join me in observing one minute’s silence to honour those who were lost and to acknowledge their grieving families and friends. The ringing of the ship’s bell will signify the end of the minute’s silence.”
