Got approached by the organiser of a freestyle karate competition and asked if Id like to compete and pit Krav Maga in freestyle martial arts tournaments. Out of curiosity I asked What are the rules? Full contact? ...... It depends. Punches to head? .... Intentional strikes to the head not allowed. Attacks to groin? ......Definitely not. Leg kicks?....... No hitting below the belt. Striking a downed opponent.......no way. Attacking while downed......nope. Grabbing of any sort..... out. And so are head butts - out. Me: So um, what is allowed then? Answer: Oh, you know, fancy high roundhouses, spinning back this and that, any kata moves. Me: I think Ill be right thanks.
