Gracie’s story could bring tears to your eyes. She is a Boxer/Pit Bull mix about 18 months old that was abused by her owner and the other dogs on the property. It’s hard to believe, but Gracie, with her kind eyes and sweet temperament, was kept on a heavy chain with no shelter, love or protection and minimal food and water. Thankfully she was rescued and is making up for lost time as she happily takes in the love and affection of anyone who shows her kindness. She is named Gracie because it was only by the grace of a higher power that she remained strong and has not let her awful start in life sour her opinion of humans. She is truly a wonderful, sweet spirit ready to be the most loyal pet for the family that welcomes her in. Due to Gracie’s traumatic past, she is still fearful of high energy dogs and may always be. She would do best as either the only dog in her new home or with a large male dog. Children over age 10 would be fine for her. Gracie’s new family should be prepared to deal with her sensitivities and to be devoted to giving her a peaceful life where she is free to love her family and not worry about being betrayed again. She has gone through behavioral and socialization training and is believed to make a great working dog.
