Grave Stories Saturday 2 November, 2.00pm St Augustines Church, Penarth, CF64 1BA Come and hear all about the interesting characters buried in St Augustines churchyard. Local historian, Alan Thorne, will be giving a talk on these characters, including the famous Dr Joseph Parry, composer of the haunting Myfanwy, and several of the well known ship owners. Alan will also touch on one or two spine-chilling events, such as the murder of Inspector S Adams who was stabbed in the heart outside the The Ship Hotel in the 19th century. Weather permitting, there will be an optional tour of the churchyard. This event is arranged by the Friends of St Augustines Church to raise funds for the restoration of the Roll of Honour in time for the commemoration of the outbreak of WW1.
