Great Syrian People With great strength, determination, and dignity, and for many years, our nation has been facing an abusive regime which has revolved around arrests, killings, destruction and genocide, and which has deprived its people of their right to freedom, co-existence, and a decent life. Further, the regime’s hunger for authoritarian power, and that this power remain in its hands, has from the onset led it to depend on the bullying power of foreign forces and sectarian movements, without batting an eye at the prospect of toppling national sovereignty and co-existence. The regime sacrificed Syria as a nation so that it may remain in power. It permitted the homeland to be violated by any foreign force, and with its allies it allowed Iranian-backed sectarian militias to enter its territories and ISIS to practice its heinous acts against Syrian society and to distort all notions of co-existence. Despite being convinced of the need for military deterrence against crimes committed by ISIS, and despite the awareness that these operations may weaken the tyrannous regime, we cautiously monitor the coalitions actions and their negative impact on Syria, the homeland. We fear the misalignment between the revolutions priorities the those of the coalition forces, or that the regime may seize control of the areas from which ISIS withdraws, or that the strikes will lead to more casualties and the destruction of vital installations. Added to these concerns is the absence of a clear strategy for the coalition campaigns, whose scope is limited to action that does not have impact on the regimes crimes, and the lack of transparency with active Syrian forces, all of which contribute to making these operations appear to be outside the context of the revolution for which the Syrian people arose. We believe that the regime is the true head of terror, and that putting a stop to its criminal activities should be the priority; ISIS and Iranian-backed sectarian militias are but the regimes tails which will fall once the regime falls. Any action that is not aimed at destroying the tyrannous regime, or that does not strengthen and protect the revolution, only serves to prolong the crisis and increase the suffering of Syrians. The proud Syrian people, whose heritage is built on great values such as dignity, patriotism and humanitarianism, who have learned from peace and from the spirit of the forefathers, and who reject all forms of slavery, vow in all pride and dignity to continue their national struggle and blessed revolution against the ruling junta, which demolished the homeland and its sovereignty. The Syrian people also strongly condemn all forms of terrorism, and reject the regime permitting the desecration of the country by any foreign power so long as the objectives are vague. We call upon all the people of Syria to work together for the liberation of the country and for the achievement of true sovereignty; sovereignty for the people, and of the nations land, borders and wealth. It is in this spirit that we call on international forces to treat our cause as the cause of a people who revolted to regain national self-determination, to free themselves from foreign influences and from the unwelcomed will of others. Stability and security in Syria can only be achieved by involving the Syrian people at this critical juncture of self-determination. As danger looms over the future of our Syrian nation, we call on all revolutionary forces, opposition forces, and civil and national society, to forge a deep alliance towards the future of Syria: A free nationalistic Syrian state, a Syria of co-existence that guarantees equality, rights, freedom and fairness for all its citizens, a Syrian state capable of patriotic decision-making, a sovereign Syria that respects the rights of all its societal and political components, and a Syria that lives up to the aspirations of all Syrians in terms of a secure and dignified life, and a sense of pride in their identity and belonging.
