Great information from the base to keep you and your family safe: Sig Citizens, The Department of State has recently updated their Worldwide Caution to provide information on the continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against U.S. citizens and interests throughout the world. U.S. citizens are reminded to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take appropriate steps to increase their security awareness. This replaces the Worldwide Caution dated April 10, 2014. The Worldwide Caution is available at travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/alertswarnings/worldwide-caution.html. Please continue to be on the alert for suspicious activity on and off base. The Department of State website (travel.state.gov/content/travel/english.html) provides a wealth of information regarding various topics for individuals traveling abroad. This is a good place to start learning about places to which you may be traveling. The State Departments Office of American Citizens Services and Crisis Management (ACS) administers the Consular Information Program, which informs the public of conditions abroad that may affect their safety and security. Country Specific Information, Travel Alerts, and Travel Warnings are vital parts of this program. There is country-specific information for every country in the world. The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals traveling abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. STEP is accessible at https://step.state.gov/step/ and will keep you up to date on current information regarding the country you are visiting.
