Great news for dental: Governor Brown has budgeted for a State Dental Director position into the 2014/2015 State Budget. The dental director will be charged with developing a burden of disease report, leading the collaborative process to create a state oral health plan, and managing ongoing implementation of that plan. The dental directors role will also include establishing prevention and oral health literacy projects, as well as working to secure funding for prevention-focused oral health and disease prevention services. Oral Health Access Council (OHAC)s partner California Primary Care Association (CPCA) is currently discussing a proposal for the State Dental Director position to share with California Department of Health (CDPH).
