Great session for Brunch and Learn with UPMC about Navigating your career. Here are a few tips! Hopefully, they are helpful: 1) Small interactions make a big difference to recruiters. That mixer, where talent managers are present, is for them to watch how you interact socially. Its not just to hang out. 2) No one wants to ever hear an employee say, This is not in my pay grade. Step up when needed, stretch, & Perform. 3) Is your elevator pitch ready? Is it 15-30 sec? Remember, your audience wants to know Whats In It for Me (WIIFM). 4) Be nice in the negotiation process. Ask for what you want in a respectful and confident manner. 5) Do your research about the company, and what you are worth before you enter negotiation. (Refer to Salary, Wall Street Journal, and CNN for great calculators.) 6) Think about other benefits that you can negotiate, especially if you cant move the salary.
