Great turnout this morning at the national social studies - TopicsExpress

Great turnout this morning at the national social studies conference. Well over 200 people showed up to learn about civil rights heroes like Booker T. Washington, Fredrick Douglas, Fred Korematsu and Cesar Chavez. As descendants of these transformative figures Karen Korematsu, Ken Morris and myself shared stories not covered in the history books that hopefully bring out the more human aspects of these figures we hold as icons. Proudly we all go around the nation promoting civic engagement and service-learning projects in schools by sharing stories about the movements our ancestors helped to lead. Si Se Puede! Yes we can!
