Greetings below is the media report on the operations of HC midlands We the CHC would first like two welcome all the students into all DUT-Midlands Residences and hope you had great stay at home and you have survived the brutality that was pose to us as the entire DUT population, the children of a working class during our unrest at the beginning of this academic year, we also like to congratulate each and every one of you who have made it to the next level of study. CHC as the structure that governs the operations of the House Committee we would like to ensure you on the high-level of service of which we are rendering to you, and promising that were working tirelessly on improving our standards moving forward. Speaking of service delivery, the CHC makes sure that we start this year on a new note, by influencing the Department of Student Housing to provide fridges in all residences specifically in Indumiso we now have bigger fridges in double rooms, and bar fridges in single rooms. All this has happened because we were tirelessly reminding the management of the relevancy of these things. Currently there is only one Cafeteria working in Indumiso of which the Kiosk is still under construction the new appointed service provider is still doing upgrades on the facility. What is still in the pipeline is the bus shelter in Ndumiso bus stop. The installation of microwaves in all residences in Ndumiso is one of the greatest achievements. Since last year we have been influencing the relevancy of having food facilities in outsource cafeterias, and this year it has happened that we have achieved that through thorough consultation with the management that is now a success as we will witness the cafeteria in Westhaven and Roseville, and we are still influencing that this arrangement should stress out to all Midlands residences, The challenge of transport of which we all witnessed last year is getting better by day, as the CHC making sure that the transport system is working accordingly, the has been an appointment of people who will look for our interest, be kind to produce your student card if they ask you to as this system assist us on making sure that the utility of those buses are from our own people not strangers or general members of the community that surrounds us. The implementation of Programs as the CHC we have made it our direct concern on making sure that Res-life is not merely about sleeping and eating but merely about developing a well-round academia, to this we will be implementing vibrant programs of which with you students we dont even exist, and those programs will not be a success, just to share a light we encourage you to show your support on weekends as the Residence League kicks off, and other sport codes at Indumiso sport Grounds. Miss &Mr Res is coming soon next semester please ladies and gentlemen obtain the entry form from your House Committee members, this program wont be a success without your participation, it is about you and for you. There are residence programs which we will be implemented in block and res level, do come in numbers remember these are your fees. It is important that we understand that every improvement in residences happens because we are paying fees, and it would be sad if our parents and sponsors pay our fees then we repay them back by damaging the property that they are paying so much for to maintain an then end up paying more for fixing it. We therefore urge you students to value your property/ belongings in residences, have that sense of ownership towards them. Lastly students this year we are celebrating 20 years of Democracy and it has been like these for past 20 years because we have been given a voice to speak out and choose our leadership, this is the call we are making that we vote in the 2014 General Elections. This is to make sure that we sustain this mass base system and improve moving forward We the Midlands CHC like to wish you well for this year/semester, and making sure that you stay in residences is worth the money you paid, at the same token we advise each and every one of you to interact with us, come forward if you feel we not doing what you voted us for.
