Group accuses Okorocha of high-handedness, impunity The leadership of South East Progressives Assembly, SEPA, has accused Governor Rochas Okorocha of high-handedness, impunity and imposition of his acolytes as party executives of All Progressives Congress, APC. The group, which made its position known in a statement signed by Okorocha’s former media aide and SEPA President, Mr. Ebere Uzoukwa, also fumed that the Governor’s excesses led to the shocking resignation of the State Chairman of APC, Prince Marshal Okaforanyanwu. “Okaforanyanwu merely received his own dosage of the toxic concoction of Okorocha’s use and dump and almajiri politics, which many that equally worked to secure his first electoral victory in 2011, had taken before deserting him”, SEPA boss stated. It was themconsidered opinion of the group that as a socio-political organization deeply committed to promoting good governance, democratic values, as well as championing harmonized Igbo political interest, SEPA was sadly disturbed over noticeable inconsistencies between well known democratic ethos and recent actions carelessly exhibited by Governor Okorocha who they earlier thought was a democrat. Although the group stated that it had no intention to join issues with the Governor over the continued exodus of political actors and thousands of their supporters, SEPA however fumed that Okaforanyanwu’s revelations were worrisome, particularly when placed side- by-side with “Governor Okorocha’s wide-mouthed boast to secure a better political placement for Ndigbo” under his newly found APC. While recalling that former close aides and associates of the Governor had previously taken their dosages of the bitter pill before now, SEPA however reminded those still hovering around the Governor that they would definitely receive theirs after Okaforanyanwu. They accused Okorocha of completely refusing to pay former political office holders, including those he personally appointed into his administration, their statutory and constitutionally prescribed entitlements, as well as introducing vindictive politics in Imo ostensively to erase the achievements of his predecessors in office. “Why did he dismantle the provisions of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) just to shortchange his political appointees? Why did he subject contractors to execute government projects with borrowed funds only to dump and deny them at the point of payment?Governor Okorocha cannot claim to be unaware that some of the contractors have miserably lost their lives and valuables to banks that gave them the wasted funds”, SEPA fumed.
