Guy McV Unionists, especially Labour and Murphy in particular, were last night demanding the Scottish Government set up a fund to bailout the Oil Industry. Did I miss a Yes vote? Have the last 3 months been a bad dream? I know they are well aware we voted No, cos they havent stopped banging on about the fact that the oil price has plummeted, and wasnt it the right choice to stay part of the union. Well...NEWSFLASH! Why the hell should we bailout one of the wealthiest industries in the world, like we did with the banks? And trying to say we dont care about the workers is pure SHITE! Its the same problem all over. Its exactly the same when we have to top up workers earnings with tax credits. In effect we are bailing out the bosses. Private equity firms shut down places like CityLink, and taxpayers end up footing the redundancy bill for the workers, even though the equity firm and the bosses have got millions! Now the oil industry wont be making the huge profits they want, so they threaten to lay off staff, and get Labour to demand taxpayers bail them out as well? We might have been able to, IF we had set up some sort of fund decades ago. A fund which we put revenues from the North Sea into, just in case something like this happened. That would have been a great idea, wouldnt it? What would we have called it?
