HANDWRITING SAMPLES REVEAL 32 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TRYING TO STEAL YOUR MONEY Letter sent to the Department of Labor on June 14th. In a disgusting-but-not-all-that-surprising development, 32 members of Congress recently signed and sent a letter to the Department of Labor that was secretly written by a lobbyist whose client stood to lose profits when a new regulation went into effect. “The letter’s metadata indicates it was drafted by Robert Lewis, a lobbyist who works for the Financial Services Institute (FSI), an investment industry trade group” So, what was the radical new rule that had these Congressmen so fired up that they absolutely had to take action? The terrifying possibility that the Department of Labor would:........…require retirement investment advisers to act in the best interest of their customers, as opposed to their own best interest.” Yep, that’s the rule. These Congressmen felt that requiring investment advisers to act in the best interest of their customers would hurt low-income and minority citizens. I’m not joking. CONFUSED? I was too, until I did some digging. The lawmakers who signed the June 14th letter received over $88,000 in Campaign Contributions from the securities and investment industry, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. I guess that answers the age-old adage, “How much does it cost to get 32 American Congressmen to sign anything you want them to?” $88,000, that’s how much. Glad we cleared that up. Want to answer the even more elusive question, “How do I get my Congressmen to stop screwing over the people they are supposed to represent"?!!!!!!!
