HI Guys Just about tomorrow, and the 1 day Introduction to Artistic Entrepreneurship Workshop here in CFCP, there are a couple of things to note and a couple of short videos to watch if you get the chance that will help you with some of the parts for tomorrow and introduce you to some of the topics we will be covering. Course Work SMART Goals – If you have never heard of SMART goals then please see this video – SMART goals are critical to the whole day. If you don’t get a change to watch any of the other videos PLEASE WATCH THIS ONE - youtu.be/KrL-3s-UMjA or if time is short this one - youtu.be/1-SvuFIQjK8 Purpose - purposeeconomy/ - if you could have a look at the two videos on this page, start with the second one first and then watch the first one. The first one outlines purpose and the second how this fits into the context of the purpose economy. After the videos – think: What is my purpose? Why do I do what I do? Do my customers / supporters / funders buy into my purpose? Impact - youtu.be/Z83zbp9XLoE – where Tom talks about Not-For-Profit if you are an artist think “Artist” if you are with an organisation then think “organisation” or “not for profit” After the video think: What is my impact? Who am I trying to Impact? Why am I trying to make an impact? The Business Model Canvas – please have a look at the attachment and the short video at - youtu.be/2FumwkBMhLo and if you have nothing else to do tonight (and no drinking before class please - then have a look at youtu.be/7o8uYdUaFR4 – but this is not critical After the video think: Who are my customers / supporters / funders What do they look like? What does success look like and in what time frame? - SMART goals Personal business model Canvas- Just one point about the business model canvas – I know it sounds very business orientated, customers, segments, value purpose, cash flow etc but it is relevant if you change business for career. But only look at this if you have seen the short video on the business model canvas - youtu.be/cYG_K4qT3gY Understanding why we are asking you to look at these bits - Why are we giving you all this to do beforehand – well simply in the 5 week course there are gaps of 6 days to get the work done, in a 1 day workshop it all has to be covered in 7 hours and no gaps so you won’t really have much time to think properly about purpose, impact and the business model canvas and personal business model canvas. There will be a lot for you to take in and to do on your own – we will be there to help when needed by email, phone, Skype and in person so the more you can do tonight and on the way in tomorrow as pre work the better. Other Information Think about before hand or on your way in – your income and expenditure, what outcome are you looking for with your career, who your customers / supporters / funders really are, do you have the “right” customers If you could change one thing in your career – what would it be? Practical Bits Food – please feel free to bring your own food. We have plates, spoons, knives, forks, salt, pepper etc and a small stove. We will provide tea / coffee / herbal tea throughout the day but if you would like to get a latte or cappuccino then please free to, we would recommend Coffee Angel across the road which is open on Saturdays. If not there are two insonmias at the end of the street. Lunch will be a short affair from 1 / 1.15 – 1.30 / 1.45. Parking – if you are driving we can offer you free parking for the day, there is a car park at the back of the centre which we can use as its Saturday. Just come to reception and we will sort you out from there. To bring – pen, paper / notebook – you won’t need a laptop unless you want to take notes on it and an open mind oh and don’t forget to bring yourself Once agin sorry that this was sent so late and I hope you get a chance to look at some of the video – especially the SMART goals video. Looking forward to meeting you all tomorrow Regards Ian… Ian Oliver Centre for Creative Practices
