HI, Im selling my restored 1986 CR 500 ground pounder, this model is the most Sort after & the most powerful model of all the Cr 500,s produced. My 86 makes way more power than you can ever use on a supercross track, let alone the woods. Its not just the peak power that is crazy, its the delivery. The 86 has that 2 stroke hit that we have all grown to love, but its mutiplied by 1000 over anything else anyone has ever experienced. After 1986, CR500Rs were tamed down considerably over the next few years. Honda open class pro riders had the Honda engineers tone the bike down because the power was simply not useable. After 86, Honda went from a short connecting rod (which contributed to the explosive power delivery) to a long rod, changed port timing and shape, lowered compression and ultimately changed the expansion chamber. All this turned the CR500 from a frightful widow maker to a bike that was more tractor-like. For those of you that have ridden a later model CR500 and find it to be an animal, believe me, its down-right tame compared to an 86! . .This bike has been stripped bare and engine fully rebuilt, top & bottom including all new seals, new water pump, even new crankcase cover. The suspension has been rebuilt, new front fork springs, seals boots, new rear mono shock, and rear swing arm replaced with new bushes, seat has been recovered, new plastics, brand new full FMF exhaust system, new cables, new master cylinder, new gear shifter, rims have been re-laced, new tyres fitted. this bike is mechanically A1. AND SOUNDS AWESOME!!!!
