Had a gig in Lubbock at The White Elephant on the main drag close to the Texas Tech campus in the late 80s. They packed em in on Thursday nites for Greek Nite. Pretty sure Jack Mayberry headlined. (Hes from Lubbock and that would explain why he wasnt staying where I was) No fancy schmancy accommodations here. Where you existed for 3 days & nites was literally 2 ft. behind the the stage curtain! You finished the show and walked thru the stage curtains across a very narrow hallway right into your partitioned sleeping/living area which consisted of a cot and a small space heater for entertainment. It was the middle of a record-breaking, bone chilling January. I kept a container of milk in the hallway for breakfast the next morning. To my dismay, it had frozen solid overnight!
