Had a great, unplanned jam session this evening with my friends, Denis and Lory. A 3-man acoustic jam if there ever was one... :) Started out a rather wobbly for me, though, as I couldnt seem to string 2 notes together in any musical sort of manner, much less 102 notes, so after a few tunes, i decided to write down what we were playing as we went along so that I can begin to have have something to work on when I grab a guitar here, in my shop. Been in a bit of a slump, musically, lately... Eventually the cobwebs cleared somewhat from ye olde mind of mine and all seemed to gel nicely, making for a really nice evening of music. Not a word was sung, and none needed singing! What follows is a list, in order, of what we pulled out of thin air and picked. Cant think of a better way of closing out my 47th year...! - Cherokee Shuffle - I Am A Pilgrim - Soldiers Joy - Ginseng Sullivan (instrumentally; we couldnt remember the lyrics... :) ) - Coming Down From Rising Fawn - Shady Grove (in Dm/Am) - Carters Blues - John Henry - Temperance Reel - Beaumont Rag - Texas Gales - Home Sweet Home (RIP, Rick...) - Farewell Blues - Wheel hoss - Big Mon (note to self: do NOT try to play this one right after Wheel Hoss) - Old Dangerfeild - Alabama Jubilee - Turkey In The Straw - Leather Britches - Big Sciota - Blackberry Blossom - Billy In The Lowground - Steel Guitar Rag - Mockingbird Missing in action are the 8 tunes for which we couldnt remember the name of.... Life is good!!!
