Had a very productive meeting with the CEO of South West Water this morning, getting a better understanding of their role in delivering domestic water supplies, managing their environmental obligations and some of their customer service initiatives. It was interesting to learn about some of the issues and physical obstacles they face when managing our water supplies and sewerage removal, as well as all the various compliance issues surrounding clean rivers, bathing beaches and run off during the heavy rain season. I was also pleased to discuss all of the various methods they have put in place to help residents who get into financial difficulties, often through no fault of their own, such as redundancy or bereavement. It is reassuring to know that even though we are still experiencing financially tough times, there are some companies who put the needs of their customers first.
