...Had the ultimate in celebrity meetings earlier today, at least for me. It was something approximately 27 years in the making and I have to give a special shout out to the staff over at Rigid Industries LED Lighting (SEMA show - Las Vegas Convention Center) for their accomodating me while on a break to meet this person - RIKKI ROCKET!!! It was an awesome experience for me and, no offense, but the convention center would be the last place I would think I would meet Rikki, but he was making an appearance for the booth and graciously signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans, some of whom were the perverbial super fan who brought Poison cassettes and posters. I said I should have thought of that, but while other people stood in lines and waited to meet Nascar and some car reality show people (Car Chasers, Overhaulin, etc), I stood anxiously ala Ralphie in A Christmas Story waiting to cram into 2 minutes what I had waited 27 years to say. Basically I thanked him for all the great and meaningful songs over the years and said that it was really cool meeting him. Rikki was gracious and thanked me and said that he loves the Poison gigs in that after 25 years together and on the road its like playing with your friends. He also is doing side projects such as martial arts, drum building, and some other stuff. Rikki did talk to the crowd that had gathered at the end and talked about the early days in the 80s of LA and trying to make it. He talked about he and Brett forming the band. One fan asked about Slash trying out before CC got the gig and Rikki answered all questions. Then that was it. A really awesome day for the Z-Man. Again, thanks to the staff over there for making this happen. Ill have pictures posted as soon as I get them. I didnt have my usual digital camera and had to settle for a disposable, so itll be a while, but screw Mark Walberg, Im the Rock Star!! (lol) Keep rockin!!
