Halloween is confusing enough as it is when you think about it logically. It’s nominally meant to be “scary”, but it’s also strongly emphasised as being child-friendly. Thanks to Halloween it is now perfectly acceptable to dress small children as a vampire or a devil, a reanimated corpse that sustains itself by feasting on the blood of unwilling victims, and the biblical manifestation of all that is evil and responsible for the suffering of mankind (respectively). You wouldn’t normally get away with that sort of thing.
