Happy Birthday to Wayne Penniman! (1932) Maybe you know him better as Little Richard, one of American musics most dynamic talents of all time! Beatles and Stones were his loyal fans, they covered many of his works, as did many of his contemporaries including Elvis Presley, Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Everly Brothers, Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran. Others claimed him as their inspiration, including James Brown, Otis Reding, Tina Turner, Bob Seger, John Fogerty, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Patti Smith, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, even Pat Boone! Penniman was a pivotal influence in so many of Americas music genres, especially rock, soul, funk, rap, and gospel. Well, here is the greatest testament of all… In 1959, Bob Dylan claimed in his school yearbook that his Ambition was to join Little Richard. Have a nice weekend, everyone!
