The Year Of the Horse FRIDAY JANUARY 31 MOON IN AQUARIUS / PISCES Moon Void of Course 8:45 am (PST) – 7:45 pm Mercury enters Pisces 6:29 am (PST Venus stations Direct 12:49 pm (PST) Chinese New Year – Year of the Wood Horse It’s a red letter day at the cosmic dance with lots of fussing and activity. Shortly after midnight, Jupiter the planet of expansion opposes Pluto – the planet often associated with eliminating the unnecessary. Let’s see – excess meets austerity – should be fun! Jupiter is also associated with faith, spirituality and religious beliefs. This challenge from Pluto can drive us to be compulsive and extreme especially when it comes to spiritual or philosophical beliefs. We tend to identify strongly with our opinions and find it hard, if not impossible to remain neutral and moderate. (Note to self – tone it down!) Around dawn, Mercury the messenger planet enters Pisces, but this is a short and temporary stay. Spoiler alert – Mercury moves into a retrograde pattern on February 6th and will return to Aquarius on February 12th. Nevertheless, enjoy the change of scenery. In Pisces, Mercury is more psychic than logical and finds it easier to communicate in non-verbal ways including music, feelings and images. It’s a great time to listen to your intuition and practice ‘reading’ the energy. And speaking of retrogrades, Venus completes her 6-week long retrograde in pragmatic Capricorn. It’s over, but the effects are far ranging, especially as Venus is in the very near vicinity of powerful and transformational Pluto. It will be about three weeks before Venus builds up some speed and leaves the slower moving Pluto behind. There is still some soul-searching and personal truths to be revealed. C.A.Brooks
