Happy December 29th! Today we remember the Holy Innocents that were slaughtered at the hands of Herod. Todays remembrance was transferred from yesterday, Dec 28th. Today is traditionally the day we remember St. Thomas of Canterbury (aka Thomas à Becket). We have a window at ASA dedicated to him and his image is on the mural behind the high altar. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Receive, we pray, into the arms of your mercy all innocent victims; and by your great might frustrate the designs of evil tyrants and establish your rule of justice, love, and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. O God, our strength and our salvation, who called your servant Thomas Becket to be a shepherd of your people and a defender of your Church: Keep your household from all evil and raise up among us faithful pastors and leaders who are wise in the ways of the Gospel; through Jesus Christ the shepherd of our souls, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. In the World Cycle of Prayer, we remember and pray for all the people of Namibia. In the Ecumenical Cycle of Prayer, we remember and pray for our sisters and brothers who are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa. The Collect for Christmas...
