Happy Festivus! December 23rd Did you know that today is actually designated as the “Holiday About Nothing”, as generated by the Seinfeld Show? Yes its now for real. It is a holiday I quite like as it divides and includes at the same time. Although I have come to my own beliefs largely from following a non dogmatic Christian path, I do not consider myself to be exclusively Christian and in fact, believe THAT idea is actually a contradiction in terms. (you psychiatrists know how good I am at seeing contradictions, even when others do not) My own point of view is believing that all religions, with a collective healing and spirit at the basis for them, are like spokes in the wheel of life. The SPOKES are not the circle of truth, though some believe that they are. It is the wheel that is the circle, or sphere, and the spokes all support the wheel and all lead to the hub of the matter- our Collective Being. So “Festivus”, created for laughs, really embodies that moment of transcendence, when we can all laugh, (or cry or get angry, or feel frustrated) as EQUALS, about the frequently absurd importance we have given to our differences, while ignoring our connection. So rise up for one day, together, and be “the yeast”, in the feast, that “causes the whole loaf“ to get beyond the state of half baked, as we are most of the time right now, on every OTHER day. Get out your Festivus poles and dance, the soon to be traditional, Circle dance. Happy, Merry FESTIVUS everyone!
