Happy Friday. Thank you for following, liking and friending me. Thank you to those who do not always agree with me. We must learn to understand one another. What do Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, Toni Morrison, Wanda Sykes, Spike Lee, Nikki Giovanni, Common, Samuel Jackson, Debbie Allen , Andrew Young , Erykah Badu, Walter Payton, Eddie Robinson, Tom Joyner, Rosa Parks, Michael Clark-Duncan, Ed Bradley, Nancy Wilson, Ronald McNair, Oprah Winfrey and Susan Taylor, just to name a few, all have in common? THEY ALL attended HBCUs. Calling all HBCU alum! We are saluting HBCUs and fighting to save them. As a result, we have some very exciting events happening in Chicago this weekend. TONIGHT you are cordially invited to the Presidents Reception at Chicago State University Library 9501 South Martin Luther King Drive. You still have time to attend. On Saturday, all HBCU alum are encouraged to wear college gear and to bring your college flags to Rainbow PUSH Coalition Headquarters . We will have a Breakfast at 8a.m. and a HBCU Roundtable during the Saturday Morning Forum at 10am. Lets pack the auditorium. Bring your brochures for distribution as there will be a student meet and greet directly following the broadcast. Sit in the right section and represent your school. Did you know that by late August of 2012, the Department of Educations data revealed that 14,616 HBCU students in good standing who would have been returning to college were not able to return as a result of the loss of the Parent PLUS Loan? Schools and students are suffering as a result. We must fight to save our HBCUs. Please today share with me the HBCU you attended. If you attended a HBCU,.PLEASE give back to your school. Join your Alumni Association. Please share your favorite HBCU story. Tell us about your School Days. ( If it were not for a HBCU you might not have been able to see this Spike lee Movie) Guess who else attended a HBCU? I DID AND I am sharing a clip from one of my favorite HBCUs on a Different World, Hillman College. This was a real honor and a lot of fun. Again, Happy Friday. Keep Hope Alive. God loves us all. Be Safe. Love you guys. See you tonight and Saturday if you are in Chicago. If you cannot attend or are not in Chicago, tune in at bit.ly/1lPQRaL on Saturday at 10:00am. We are live streaming. Heres the clip from A Different World. Save our HBCUs bit.ly/1myHegN
