Happy Hanukkah! The 8 day festival of Hanukkah (“the Festival of Lights”) is one of the most important celebrations on the Jewish Calendar. The holiday commemorates a successful rebellion of the Jewish people in the 2nd century BC. Over the course of the eight days of Hanukkah, families exchange gifts, eat traditional food, sing songs and play games. The Embassy was happy to participate in a Hanukkah celebration last night at the beautiful Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue on 26th Street in Yangon. “Hanukkah is not only a time to celebrate the faith and customs of the Jewish people, but for all people to celebrate the common values that we share” said Moses Samuels of the Myanmar Jewish Community
