Happy Hump Day! Heres a little meat-free burger recipe which definitely makes a regular appearance in our kitchen! Meat-free meals dont have to be on Mondays but its good to give the body a little break from meat every now and then - why not when your trading it for deliciousness!! :) Here it is - Black Bean Vege Burger! Black beans are an amazing source of fibre and protein, with one serving containing over half your daily needs for fibre and nearly a third of your daily protein intake. This is a combination unique to the legume family and one that you wont find in any vegetables, meats, seeds or other foods, making beans great value for money. Unlike sugars that move quickly through your system, and fats that move slowly, protein and fibre move through at a moderate speed, which helps to regulate your digestive processes and blood sugar levels. The high level of soluble fibre in black beans also helps to lower blood cholesterol levels combined with plenty of folate and magnesium which is great news for your heart and the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties have been shown to help reduce cancer - especially prostate cancer.
