Happy January 27th! Today we remember several greats in our Christian history! The first three are Lydia, Dorcas (aka Tabitha), and Phoebe; the fourth is John Chrysostom. All four are greats from the ancient Church! satucket/lectionary/lydia_dorcas_phoebe.html satucket/lectionary/John_Chrysostom.htm Thought for Today is Psalm 45:1... My heart is stirring with a noble song... (For what does your heart stir this day???) Collect I for Today... Filled with your Holy Spirit, gracious God, your earliest disciples served you with the gifts each had been given: Lydia in business and stewardship, Dorcas in a life of charity and Phoebe as a deacon who served many. Inspire us today to build up your Church with our gifts in hospitality, charity and bold witness to the Gospel of Christ; who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. Collect II for Today... O God, who gave to your servant John Chrysostom grace eloquently to proclaim your righteousness in the great congregation, and fearlessly to bear reproach for the honor of your Name: Mercifully grant to all bishops and pastors such excellency in preaching, and fidelity in ministering your Word, that your people shall be partakers with them of the glory that shall be revealed; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. In the World Cycle of Prayer, we remember and pray for the people of San Marino. In the Ecumenical Cycle of Prayer, we remember and pray for our sisters and brothers who are members of the Church in the Province of the West Indies. Add your personal intentions/petitions/thanksgivings/praises... (Then pray...) To my humble supplications O Lord, give ear and acceptation Save us, your servants, that have no Help nor hope but You alone. Amen. Benediction... Let us bless the Lord this day through all that we say and do. Thanks be to God. May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen, Alleluia! (Romans 15:13)
