Happy New Year Nerdybears :) Id like to share an issue that doesnt have as much awareness in society as it should. TINNITUS. 1 in 10 people in the UK have Tinnitus. What is Tinnitus ?? Its that annoying ringing sound in your ears you get after a loud concert or being exposed to a loud environment. This ringing sound can be PERMANENT due to hearing damage. You can get it in one ear, both ears or in your head. Sufferers are at risk of Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia and even Suicide. There are treatments for Tinnitus but there is currently NO CURE, the only cure is PREVENTION. So please start protecting your ears in LOUD places from now on as you never know how close you are to developing permanent Tinnitus until its too late, especially if youre a Musician, DJ, casual concert goer, Night-clubber, attend LOUD bars, regularly attend any other LOUD events like football matches or you work in a LOUD environment you should start taking precautions now. If you listen to an iPod or use earphones a lot REDUCE the volume bar to safe audible levels, NEVER have a full volume bar.
