Happy New Year to you all here’s wishing you all good health and happiness and a fulfilled 2015. So, each year I come in to it with a certain focus on something. The past years have had me look at sport training and competitions for the competitive students, Syllabus work for those wanting to focus on performance at their senior Grading’s, its been a pleasure to see you all grow in skill, character, and maturity along the way, I am truly very proud of all your achievements and hope they continue in the same vein this year. I was humbled to have so many of you join me in what was always a panicle in my goals thank you for your support over the many years. Some of you would have noticed I’ve dropped back into some old school subject matter toward the end of the year with the introduction of a little more traditional Taekwon-do. This year is going to take a very all-round approach to TKD in the sense that the lessons provided will have a more traditional format and offer all of what TKD has under the labels of, Sport TKD, Syllabus TKD and Traditional TKD. Sport TKD. As most of you know this subject focuses on the development of the students individual ability to confront the unknown combative aspect of taekwon-do and to self develop and enhancement to the ultimate accolade of winner. Syllabus TKD. The belts we wear around our waist represent our self-development and proficiency in the TKD syllabus we follow and a measure of our own progression. The fundamental practice of TKD helps refine and tune our skills accordingly to progress up the ranks. Tradition TKD. TKD was formed and developed in and around a military environment and those of you that have read “The Killing Art” will be aware of TKD ruthless potential. The ability to develop the confidence to assess and or defend your-self largely depends on the refinement of your skill and combination of the former two paragraphs. That all said the classes this year will consist of all of the above, some of the sessions will be set to a calendar for those wanting to whereas other may be set on a rotational basis. So, TKD Sport this year will have Master Minott, Mr Pearson and myself developing a programme for those of you training for competitions that will involve SAQ training, Video analysis and sport psychology. Syllabus TKD will continue for those wanting to progress up the ranks. Traditional TKD will introduce the understanding and applications of TKD in more unpredictable environment. Here’s looking forward to the New Year and in the words of a Master I once trained with, “Be critical of yourself and strive for a continuous improvement in your character and ability”.
