Happy Republic Day of India to all of you. Do you know why 26th January is important? Please read below. Today myself attended the flag hoisting ceremony at Choudhury Kothi, Cuttack and enlightened by Advocate Prahllad Sinha Bhai that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in Lahore Meet, held on 31st Dec, 1929 decided to read Sankalp Path that India became free nation. This Sankalp Path was prepared by Mahatma Gandhi and it was decided to read this Sankalp Path across the nation on 26th Jan, 1930 and ultimately it was read out across the nation that India became Independent on 26th Jan, 1930. And the same Sankalp Path was publicly read at Choudhury Kothi, Cuttack. It was read by Late Gopabandhu Choudhury. Surprisingly, more than 10 thousand people gathered to read the Sankalp Path here in Cuttack. Since than, 26th Jan is celebrated as Independence Day here in Choudhury Kothi. After the freedom of India (15th Aug, 1947), the constitution of India was drafted and implemented on 26th Jan in the memory of Lahore Meet of 31st Dec, 1929. Felt glad to participate in the flag hoisting ceremony and sang the song Ek Dulara Desh Humara...... Flag was hoisted by Krishna Apa, eminent Gandhian and the daughter of Late Nabakrushna Choudhury, former Chief Minister of Odisha, Freedom Fighter, Sarvodaya Leader and great patriot. Anyone from Cuttack or outside must visit this old building which was the centre place of coordination for freedom movement of India.
