Happy birthday to John Johnny Ramone William Cummings of Forrest Hills, Queens, and Christopher Joseph C.J. Ramone Ward of Deer Park, New York. Being the lesser of the two Ramones, we can avoid C.J.s contribution. But Johnny was a founder and lifer of the band, playing his chords well into the groups later meh era. For the uninitiated: The 1970s era defining punk band is best known known for re-contextualizing the sound of 1950s-era pop (e.g the Beach Boys) into little sub-three-minute electrical jolts.Its tough to tell which Ramones birthday gets to commemorate the musical group.
