Has anyone else noticed an upsurge in pro-fracking advertising? Theres a group calling itself Protect Colorado trying to protect us from a statewide ban on fracking. Its a direct rip-off of the legitimate anti-fracking group Protect Our Colorado. The pro-fracking group is (of course) a front for the oil industry, The good news here is that they wouldnt be doing this if they werent worried that Coloradans (like so many others) are making real gains in the struggle against fracking. The bad news is that they are trying to claim the high ground on issues like environmentalism (by falsely associating decreases in carbon emissions with fracking) and property rights (by correctly claiming that a fracking ban would limit property owners ability to screw their neighbors by selling out to the oil industry). Not to mention the potential jobs lost if fracking were banned. Of course the same argument could be made about jobs lost due to bans on things like arson and murder. If you are more concerned about being protected from the oil industrys lies and greed than from a ban on fracking, please share this post!
