Has anyone seen a bot fly? We had a very large bee like insect with a hooked tail...bit like a fish hook! Buzzing around the horses today and causing havoc....poor lads were terrified of it as it hovered over each of them trying to land....a few scarey moments.....we have never before had every horse in the field clambering at the gate wanting in on a nice day. We looked at an article on insects in the recent edition of one of the horse magazines and it looks like our buzzing beast was indeed a bot fly. Not sure how she could ever get close enough to plant her eggs on them as she was noisey and scarey .....so if your horses are belting around like nutters it could be due to a bot fly. Has anyone seen one ????
