Have spent the past couple of days since finishing the novel dealing with admin, sorting out contractual stuff for a couple of upcoming projects, answering emails, updating my music files and just generally having a bit of a clear out. But Ive now reached the stage where I cant put it off any longer. Its time to read through the novel and start the editing process. Its always an excruciating business for me, this. All Ill see at first are the flaws, the nuts and bolts, the struggle to express myself. I know from past experience that by this time tomorrow Ill be in a panic, convinced that the book is stodgy, unreadable, awful, and that *this time*, for sure, Ill be unmasked as an imposter, a pretender, among real, far more worthy writers. Not even the fact that I go through this process every time and invariably come through it is a comfort. While youre stuck in the middle of it its horrible. Wish me luck.
