Have you heard of THE ONE WAY BARGAIN?? Its a real self sabotaging device, one that misleads you from getting your end results, distorts your reality, and can make you bitter and twisted...all outcomes no sane person wants, Im sure. A one way bargain is where you have it in your mind that theres a deal but the person(s) you imagine you have this deal with doesnt/dont know about it. The parable of the prodigal son in the Bible is an example of a one way bargain. When the prodigal son comes back from his dissolute wanderings his good brother is upset that their father celebrates his bad brothers return. He assumed that by being good and loyal and sticking around he would gain his fathers exclusive love and approval. But the father hadnt made that deal. As far as he was concerned he loved both his sons no matter what and was overjoyed at the prodigals return. Certain personality types are especially prone to this type of dynamic. They enthusiastically do a lot for people never asking anything in return. They are seemingly selfless saints. But in truth they want something in return, sometimes even unconsciously. And when they dont get what the other person(s) were supposed to give them they erupt like a volcano spewing lumps of bitterness and resentment. If you want to be powerful in life, always be clear that your expectations are expressed, and if you have an expectation of an outcome for energy you put in, make sure the other party is clear on that and is partial to the exchange. If its in business, get it in writing; if its personal, seal it with a handshake or a kiss. And if you find yourself flipping out about being wronged and the other side is perplexed at your ire, take a good look at yourself and your communication style. The one way bargain, no one wants it.
