Headline Gitnang Luzon Robbery eyed as motive in massacre Posted on September 24, 2013 at 12:02 am • Lone survivor dies CAMP OLIVAS–Police are looking into the angle of robbery as the motive behind the killing of seven individuals in the home of a rich fish dealer in a subdivision in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga last Friday. Senior Supt. Oscar Albayalde, acting director of Pampanga Police Office, said the newly formed “Special Investigation Task Group Edejer” has started collating evidence to pinpoint those involved in the massacre. Albayalde said the victims might have identified the suspects who opted to silence them. He said this was evident as the suspects brought with them the close circuit television camera recorder inside the house during their escape. He said the content of the camera recorder is vital to their investigation. Without it police investigators will depend on the account of probable witnesses. Yesterday, the 42-year-old Edejer patriarch, Nicolas, also died while receiving treatment for severe wounds in the body and bullet wound in the head at the intensive care unit of Sacred Heart Medical Center in Angeles City. His 47-year-old wife, Corazon, and 19-year-old son, Kenneth Nolan, along with house helpers Teresita Camiling, 40; Nelson Dominico, 17; Benigno Villanueva Ingar, Jr., 52 and a certain Kakay, 27, all died on the spot due to stab wounds in the body and gunshot wound each in the head. Families of the victim announced the Edejer remains will be buried today (Tuesday) while the remains of other victims were brought to their respective families for burial. Relatives of the victims who were interviewed by reporters condemned the killing and called for the early resolution of the case. Albayalde said they will “leave no stone unturned” in their investigation and vowed to bring to justice those involved in the bloody massacre. The carnage was discovered by the Edejer’s nine-year old son when he arrived home past 5 p.m. from school. The boy was surprised when he noticed the gate was locked and no one around responded to his repeated calls until he decided to scale up the gate and went straight inside the house. Police said the Edejer family, aside from being the biggest distributor of “Bangus” fish in Pampanga, was also engaged in lending activities. It was learned the Edejer kept their money in a safe vault inside their home located at L&S subdivision, Barangay Telebastagan, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. Albayalde said some P1.7-million cash was found by scene of the crime investigators still intact at the masters’ bedroom, while the vault where Edejer kept a huge amount of cash money was found near the kitchen. The suspects failed to take the vault with them because it was too heavy to carry. Albayalde said six persons have been invited for questioning, including Edejer’s family driver, to shed light on the September 20 massacre. Albayalde said Mike Sula of Barangay Sapang Maisac, Mexico, the family driver; a certain Jake and four others, including friends and relatives who have business deals with the victims, were all invited for questioning to validate information leading to the arrest of the suspects. He said the massacre may have something to do with Edejer’s businesses, which include casino financing and fish dealership. He added that SITG Edejer members have also been dispatched to Barangay San Nicolas-Balas, Concepcion, Tarlac to gather information relative to the case, as the victim’s Toyota Hi-Lux (TFO-540) was found abandoned in the area. The car was used by the suspects as their getaway vehicle, bringing with them significant amount of cash and a closed-circuit camera tape recording that might have recorded the crime. ●Marna D.
