Hearing God during our times of suffering has been invaluable to me. In my experience the most important time for me to hear God’s voice is when it does not seem like God is working in my life, when the promises of God seem to be for others and not for me, or when circumstances continue to worsen. There are seasons of God’s dealings that we will not completely understand. His ways are higher than ours.
