Heavens story I lived my life chained to a 4 x 4 concrete square with a cement filled bucket at the end of my chain. If I was lucky I was fed and given water every few days. I had no bed, no shelter and no affection. I was only praised when I produced another litter for my owners to sell and/or fight. When I grew older and produced less for my owners I was fed less and forgotten. Fleas and ticks and fire ants bit me every day and I grew malnourished and anemic. No one cared. One day a truck drove up and loaded me inside. I had trouble walking because my nails were so overgrown and I was so skinny. I was taken to animal control, where I was happy to have a bed and food. Sadly, I had only a week before a big red X was placed on my cage. I understood, I had 3 strikes against me: I was a bulldog, I was sick and emaciated, and I was older... When the Arni staff walked past my cage I gave a wag and put my head close to the chain link. I was sooo happy when a hand petted my head and my cage opened. I was put in another cage and taken to Arni. After 4 baths and 3 bowls of food, and a B12 shot, I settled into my new home, with plush blankets, toys and bones. A volunteer sat on the floor and petted me. I was in heaven... And now I AM Heaven. Help us rescue more abuse and cruelty cases like Heaven.....
