Hello - bom dia (bon jia), This afternoon marked the end of the Brazil English Language Learning Course here on the campus of ALEM in Brasilia. Despite some uncertainty at the beginning about what we would be teaching, everything turned out just fine. Is God not in control? The students performed beyond expectation - they worked their socks off and more. The table-top presentations were fabulous and so creative. Us teachers were popping our buttons. A beautiful morning service to share, sing and pray. Some fun things: when you want to express something is ok, you do the thumbs up gesture. From now on, the term "photoshop" will mean make-up. Samara da Silva, a 27-year-old young lady who is full of joy, pulled out her two cosmetic bags, including foundation, blush, lipstick, mascara, eyeliner and more, and laughed when she described the whole thing as photoshop - I agree completely! This has been a remarkable experience, and we have all been urged to return to teach again in January. Even better, they need volunteers for the same course in about 56 countries - what na opportunity to serve the Lord, travel the world, and make new friends with Christian brothers and sisters around the world. Tomorrow, Saturday, Vicki Gorman and I take off for Rio de Janeiro and three weeks of touring Brazil, Argentina and Peru. We both believe that God has called Vicki to use her painting talent to paint portraits of Amazônian indigenous people. We are both getting serious pressure to return and go into the Amazon to visit people who have already been reached with the Word of God. That would be na awesome experience. In fact, as a thank-you gesture, we were each given na ALEM t-shirt and a hammock - invented in the Amazon jungle, and are expected to use them here in Brazil. Vicki is leaving hers here, and is urging me to do the same - you actually need to take a hammock with you when you travel in the interior. Wouldnt that be a great adventure?!! As of now, I´m taking mine as carry-on luggage. Just now, I do not feel God calling me in that direction. As Rev. Elizabeth Nordquist advised me once, distinguish between the Need and the Call. The Need is vast; pray and listen to what God is calling you to do. Beautiful words of wisdom. Thank you, Elizabeth. If any of you have ever thought about volunteering in some way to serve the Lord, and travel at the same time, please consider volunteering with Wycliffe Associates, hq in Orlando, FL. Love to you all on the great adventure of life, and to God be the glory, Bonnie Zogby
