Hello All, accept August greetings from my humble self after almost 3 weeks of short break. I have been in the village for a short break where my Camtel key connect connect me. Bafmeng and Fundong have no Camtel net work for over 2 months now. The short while in the village was very eventful but I hadn t my pen and paper with me there. However some of this events will hardly be forgotten. The Water project continues in a different dimension with the entire village involved. Two days of community work , monday 18th of Aug 2014 and saturday the 23rd of August, once more the young and the old all turned out to say we are ready and able. Everyone was called upon to carry just one spade of sand from the road at the foot of the Ndeghum mountain to the catchment site where I saw the Giant filtration tank and the main Reservoir being constructed, the very cool and clean water originates from a very thick historic forest at the mountain summit. The water path is also constructed from the end of the forest to the filtration tank for easy collection. The call for this community work was an initiative of the Mmen cultural and Development Association MCDA, a call which some few elites continued to denounce with the claims that the construction of 80% of the population in the rest of the quarters turned out and huge quantities of sand were taken up the busy mountain summit. Everyone is moved about the water project that I saw very old mothers and fathers whom I hardly believed go a km out of their habitats climbing the Historic Ndeghum mountain with a spoon full of sand. Of 5 trips of sand I saw in the morning of the first day of work, I saw only one left by the time I left the site last satruday. I have not yet been informed if all went up by the end of that day. The enthusiasm was unmeasurable. It is believed that the overseas donors will now drive the water from the main reservoir at Ndeghum through Alorh, Achui, Akang, Old town, new town, Imo and Ipailim. All the Glory goes to God The 2nd event was the cutting of the symbolic Rhybon to officially launch the Voice of lake Nyos Community Radio which has been on air for over 5 months with temporal seat at the small council building nearer the Mmen health centre. This objective was not realised that day , thursday the 21st of Aug because the Suprem administration of Menchum and the NW Region was not well informed by the mayor who is said to be the project owner. The Japanese Embassy officials who left yde passed a night in Bamenda and returned, we just hope those concerned will do all to see this very important ceremony to take place. The voice of lake Nyos community radio operates at 100.1MHz frequency modulation and the waves are received all over Menchum and Boyo Divisions, many parts of Ndonga Amantun Division and other arears. The coming in of a third priest to the Bafmeng parish as curate and Chaplain of St Gabriel s college was also saluted with a smile. This greatly reduces the stress on the parish priest, Fr Dereck and also the college principal Fr Brian B. Of course, a special congregation of Catholic sisters came in for permanent settlement at the St Gabriel s parish Bafmen. The congregation is new to Cameroon and just extended from Italy, made up of Educationist and medicalists. U can then imagine what Development will follow next. For a start, these Catholic sisters are being hosted at Dr Ching Poh Fidelis s Fungoh residence where I hear they will dwell until the end of their permanent Construction site either at Imo, old town or Fungoh. Pls , can u all join me in thanking Dr Ching Poh for this great offer. God will surely bless him abundantly. Well, I also witness power Changing hands in MUST where the no Nonsense Chi Gaston Meh takes over from Kuma Dieudonne Ndong as president of the MMEN UNIT OF STUDENTS AND TEACHERS, Congratulations Mr President and your ream, many thanks to his predecessor and his out going team for all they offered . It is worth mentioning that many of the bureau members are old and very active members of the group, so all will definitely go well. Well, I met Che Manas too physically for the first time when we had been chatting on fb for long without knowing one another, it was so interesting and exciting, Manas, may I cease this opportunity to thank u for the good moments we had at home. Sure u will remember all that happened in the village that I could not recall here.
