Hello FB Friends! Welcome to my wall. I am a mom living outside of Boston, MA and I am navigating the new, and sometimes scary, world of family life with teen drivers. I have found the journey to be very different from the one I remember taking with my dad decades ago. Cars have evolved into computers on wheels that we guide with our hands and feet. The roadways are perpetually clogged and often worse for the wear after years of minimal maintenance. Mobile communication devices have added another dimension to all aspects of our lives and compete for our attention 24/7. Community values around roadway safety, as well as family values around teen privileges, are different today as well. So I am setting out to chart a new course to navigate today’s teen driving terrain. I know that I am not alone and I know there is great value in building a shared roadmap grounded in the best practices that fellow parents and their teens are discovering for themselves every day. We all need to be in this together. With this goal in mind, I am assuming a pseudonym, Alexa Driver. As the protector, Alexa, feels like the perfect name. Since Driver is a well-established surname, we are all set to go!
