Hello. I created this page so those individuals who are interested in this old mystery can discuss not only my book on the subject, but also the other three books whose subject matter is the 1897 mystery. Also, anyone can ask questions and I will answer them. Some critics have panned my book, claiming I did not know what I was writing about. I laugh when I read such comments in a newspaper, or magazine review. I spent ten years researching the material for the book. I am the only authority on the subject in the world. When you examine these critics a little more closely, they turn out to be UFO enthusiasts who, against all evidence, claim the mysterious sightings beginning in November 1896 and extending to May 1897 are the result of aliens flying around in their spaceships. That is, the majority of these critics are in the business of selling UFOs to the American public. I guess I will give you a spoiler right now - there are no aliens from outerspace involved in the 1897 airship mystery. My critics claim no human could have designed and built an airship cabable of such speeds and altitudes as witnessed in 1897. However, these same critics overlook the fact a well-known inventor of the period did in fact build and fly for the United States War Department in 1864 an airship that was estimated to fly 220 miles per hour. The inventors contract with the War Department along with his airship design and test results are well documented in the National Archives. This inventors achievement was also documented by eyewitness reporters for various northern newspapers. So, it seems hardly astounding for men to replicate the same feat 33 years later.
