Hello. My crime series is set around North Wales & Anglesey, each with its own historical thread. The background of my first novel, The Charter (which is on its final day of a price promo of 99c/£1.15) follows the tragic story of the 1826 shipwreck of The Royal Charter off the coast of Anglesey. My personal inspiration for writing the book comes from childhood days at the beach at Red Wharf, with my uncle and his metal detector, telling me tales of washed-up treasure. And stories abound still around the island about missing Australian gold stolen from bodies washed up on the shore. Here is a picture of the ship, Porth Helaeth & memorial stone where it ran aground in one of the worst storms in history, plus Llanallgo church where many of over 500 victims are buried and there is a memorial to them. Charles Dickens was so moved, he visited the wreck site, and wrote fitting scenes of the storm in his novel, The Uncommercial Traveller. If youd like to read more about the Royal Charter and the role it plays in my modern day murder mystery, heres the link ... amazon.co.uk/Charter-Gillian-Hamer-ebook/dp/B0080JOA7W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420474850&sr=8-1&keywords=the+charter
