Hello all, We are now headed into week 2 of our Fall season! We have some more beautiful weather expected for this Saturday so get out there and ENJOY some NYS Football! I do have a couple of things to cover with you so please read through this email! NOTE: We may have some additional schedule changes as we go. Any changes will be posted to the schedule online and we will do our best to communicate any changes to the coaches. Please look through the online schedules each week to confirm your game time and location. 1) Roster deadline! All rosters will be frozen as of 5pm, Thursday October 24th. No more player sign ups will be allowed after this date! If you are to add any additional players, please do so by 5pm on Thursday October 24th! No player movement between teams will be allowed after Thursday, October 10th. 2) Fall regular season schedules are complete! We have now updated the schedules online at nysonline.org 3) Our 2014 National Championship Tournament dates have already been set! Here are some games we are looking forward to this weekend! Pee Wee Division @ McClintock HS, 8:00am 1952 Thorobreds @ 1949 Untouchables In our Pee Wee Division spotlight game of the week we have the Thorobreds taking on the Untouchables at McClintock High School. The Thorobreds are looking to get on the winning track this week following a tough loss to the Diablos last week.The Untouchables are looking to keep the winning ways going this week after defeating the Fanatics in the opener. The Thorobreds look to keep pace in the conference race early on while the Untouchables look to keep pace with the AZ Flames who also won last week. Midget Division @ Valley Christian HS, 1:15pm 2018 Rhinos @ 2068 AZ Flames In our Midget Division spotlight game of the week we have the Rhinos taking on the AZ Flames in an out of conference game at Valley Christian High School. The Rhinos come into this one riding an early wave of momentum following an opening week win over the Nova Bulldogs. The AZ Flames were victorious last week but it was by way of forfeit. They are sure to be chomping at the bit to get on the field to play some football! This should be a great game between two quality teams. Minor Division @ Greenway HS, 11:45am 2112 Phantoms @ 2108 Cowboys In our Minor Division spotlight game of the week we have the Phantoms taking on the Cowboys at Greenway High School.Both these teams came away with wins in week one. The Cowboys took care of the WV Sun Devils while the Phantoms defeated the Warriors. Both these teams are experienced squads that make very few mistakes. I anticipate a great match up here! This one will go a long way in determining who wins the conference. Junior High Division @ LaCima Middle School (Tucson), 1:30pm 2274 AZ Kings @ 2279 Badgers In our Junior High Division spotlight game of the week we have the AZ Kings taking the trip down I-10 to play the Badgers in Tucson. The AZ Kings got off to a great start this season with a shutout win over the Crush last week. They look to keep the good times rolling but will be challenged as they hit the road this week. Down in Tucson the badgers await. They had a bye in week one and are ready to get their season started. They can make a HUGE statement in this one as they face a quality opponent in the AZ Kings. Bantam Division @ Paradise Valley HS, 4:15pm 3013 TOA Warriors @ 3007 Argonauts In the Bantam Division spotlight game of the week we have the TOA Warriors taking on the Argonauts at Paradise Valley High School. The TOA Warriors kicked off the season with a tough defensive battle win over the Rage last week. They know they need to play some more of the great defense this week against the high scoring Argos! The Argonauts come into this one after a dominating win last week over the Eagles. They look to keep the momentum going in the right direction but expect a stiffer test this week from the TOA Warriors. Cadet Division @ Ironwood HS, 8:00am 3102 Militia @ 3100 Bulldogs In our Cadet Division spotlight game of the week we have the Militia taking on the Bulldogs at Ironwood High School. This one could very well be the game of the day. On paper these teams appear to be evenly match so look for a close game. The Militia defeated the Knights last week while the Bulldogs took care of the Argonauts. Both teams are very well coached on all sides of the ball. Special teams are sure to play a BIG role in this one. Major Division @ Higley HS, 1:00pm 3212 Gladiators @ 3205 Gilbert Mustangs Purple In our Major Division spotlight game of the week we have the Gladiators taking on the Gilbert Mustangs Purple at Higley High School. Both these team took home a victory last week as they battle for an early season advantage in the standings. The Gladiators defeated the AZ Flames in a close game at Valley Christian High School last week and look to keep the positive start going in the right direction this week. The Gilbert Mustangs have other ideas as they look to stake claim to an early season advantage in the standings following a win over the Bulldogs in week one. This is one of those great early season match ups that will go a long way in determining who will win the conference.
