Hello and good weekend all. I am creating a new costume based on the Warhammer 40K Death Korps of Krieg Guardsmen. I would like your opinion on. The standard Guardsman is based on real world militaria circa WWI and seems to fit in nicely out of the box into our alternate timeline genre. I have sourced most of the parts already and things are coming together nicely. I did choose a different helmet as it was what I had on hand at the time. (This is fine as my kit is going to be worn as an inspired kit and not as a vanilla canon WH40K kit.) My current conundrum is in regards to the rifle choice. I have a good friend and professional propmaster who has offered to accept my commission for a Lasgun. While one of these designs is canon for the WH40K kit and looks period proper. The other is a standard look for a Lasgun and while resembling a factory industrial look, looks a bit more futuristic than the first. I am more in preference to the more industrialized look. I feel that the wooden stock version will read too much as a standard cartridge rifle similar to an M4. Now that this legnthy explanation is given, what say you in regards to the two? Which do you see as better suited for a soldier in and out of trenches and cities, going sometimes very close quarters with an adversary force? Many thanks!
